The Only Thing Consistent Is Change…

Daddy has been going back to work and I get to stay home with mommy all day now. Since daddy was spending more time at home than mommy before, its nice to see her more often. Daddy thinks that she is better to me. While they both read to me, sing to me, and take good care of me, something about a mother’s love is unique.

Mommy will be staying home full time, so we are trying to adjust as a family on how things will be going forward. After you get past the emotions of it all, then you get to move on to the other things, such as the financial challenges. This can be very difficult as well. The social worker said the average cost of prescriptions for a patient with CF is between $5000 and $7000 a month. Insurance becomes very important to cover most of that cost, and a good insurance is vital. Our CF clinic appointments have a $50 co-pay, so we’re looking at $100 a month just for that for awhile. ¬†We have to make sure we don’t have a lapse of more than 63 days, as CF would then become a pre-existing condition.

Another item was added to my daily routine yesterday, as I now will be taking Zantac three times a day. It will help with reducing the acid in the stomach to prevent vomiting and spitting up and also helps the enzymes work better by making sure they reach their intended destination (the small intestine) intact.
